It seems more likely that we do not create the images that emerge in our art, but rather that we find them as we also find ourselves. This is in direct contradiction to some approaches to art making that often assume art occurs because of an optical perception—because we see a likeness “out there”. But what is really moving us? It is the glimpse that our sight gives us into the nature of reality, which is not a photographic likeness. It is a soul discovery and a subsequent portrait of what the soul needs to grow.
