Joseph Campbell in his seminal work The Hero with a Thousand Faces, wrote that the successful adventure of the hero had to be the act of unlocking and releasing the flow of energy into the world.  The artist is charged with the same creative effort.

Energy is ever changing, and also ever present. It is the constant Qi of the universe, ebbing and flowing in all things.
